Student shot at North Carolina school, another student in custody: Police

A student was shot at Butler High School in North Carolina and taken to a hospital. Another student has been taken into custody. Google Maps Street VA student was shot and critically injured at a North Carolina high school Monday morning and another student was taken into custody, police said. The wounded student was taken to a hospital in critical condition after the shooting unfolded at Butler High School in Matthews, North Carolina, about 12 miles outside of Charlotte, the Matthews Police Department said. Authorities said the shooting was "believed to be an isolated incident" and that the scene was secured by police. Police have the weapon, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said. Classes resumed after a brief lockdown. Parents were told they could pick up their children if they wished and emotional photos showed parents reuniting with students after the terrifying morning.

Ontario. woman killed in alleged hit and run

Police are investigating reports that multiple vehicles were involved in an alleged hit and run that claimed the life of a 40-year-old Ontario woman. South Simcoe police officers were called to the junction of Holland Street West and West Park Avenue in Bradford, Ont. just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night. The Bradford woman was pronounced dead at the scene and next of kin has been notified. Further investigation found that a vehicle that stayed at the scene was involved in the crash. “Police have spoken to the driver and the investigation is continuing,” South Simcoe police said in a statement. Sue Sgambati, spokesperson for South Simcoe police, said they believe they have a lead on a suspect.
